Facial & Skin Care FAQs

I don’t know which facial to book.
You don’t have to. If you’re unsure, start with a Skin Conversation and we’ll determine the most appropriate treatment together.

Do you perform extractions?
Yes. Detailed extractions are included whenever appropriate and based on what your skin can comfortably tolerate that day.

Do facials help with blackheads
Yes. Professional facials can help improve the appearance of blackheads and clogged pores by combining professional exfoliation, skin softening techniques, and detailed extractions when appropriate. Blackheads form when oil, dead skin cells, and debris become trapped inside the pore, and they cannot always be prevented permanently because your skin naturally continues to produce oil and shed skin cells.
Regular professional treatments, along with a customized home skincare routine, can help keep pores clearer, improve skin texture, and reduce recurring congestion over time. The goal is not just to remove existing blackheads, but to support healthier skin function and prevent excessive buildup.
At Skin Studio Orlando, extractions are performed thoughtfully and only when your skin can comfortably tolerate them, helping to achieve clearer, smoother-looking skin without unnecessary irritation

How often should I get a professional facial?
Most clients benefit from professional skincare treatments every 4-6 weeks. This allows time for your skin’s natural renewal cycle while providing consistent support for concerns such as congestion, uneven texture, dehydration, sensitivity, and signs of aging. Your ideal treatment schedule will depend on your skin goals, lifestyle, and home care routine.

Are facials good for acne-prone skin?
Yes, professional facials can be beneficial for acne-prone skin when customized appropriately. A proper acne treatment focuses on supporting a healthy skin barrier, managing congestion, reducing inflammation, and improving overall skin balance. Aggressive drying treatments can often make acne worse, so professional guidance is important when choosing products and treatments.

What is the difference between a facial and a chemical peel?
A customized facial focuses on improving the overall health and appearance of your skin through professional cleansing, exfoliation, extractions when appropriate, hydration, and targeted treatments. A chemical peel uses carefully selected ingredients to encourage skin renewal and address concerns such as uneven texture, pigmentation, acne, and signs of aging. During your consultation, we will determine which option is best for your skin.

Can I get a facial if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. Sensitive skin can still benefit from professional treatments when they are properly customized. Your skin will be evaluated before treatment so we can choose appropriate products, exfoliation methods, and calming ingredients to support your skin without overwhelming it.

What facial is best for aging skin?
The best facial for aging skin depends on your specific concerns, including fine lines, loss of firmness, dehydration, uneven tone, or texture changes. Treatments that support collagen activity, improve hydration, enhance product absorption, and encourage healthy skin renewal can help your skin look brighter, smoother, and more refreshed over time.

Is it necessary to apply a sunscreen product if I do not plan on being outdoors during peak sun hours?
Yes, sun protection should be a part of daily regimen for all skin types and conditions. Both UVA and UVB rays are known causes of skin cancer, and although UVB rays may be more prominent during the peak sun hours, UVA rays remain constant throughout the day, and penetrate glass and most clothing.

My skin is very oily. Do I need a moisturizer?
Yes, even those with oily skin need a daytime moisturizer with a minimum of SPF 15 and a non-oily nighttime moisturizer. A deficiency of moisture will typically lead to an overproduction of oil, which would worsen your condition.

I thought that retinol was only available by prescription and made you flake and peel?
Retinoic acid- a form of vitamin A – is available by prescription only, and although effective, can cause irritation on some skin. Retinol is another from of vitamin A that is converted into retinoic acid in the skin, making it a gentler alternative for daily use. Retinol only causes flaking when used in high percentages. Well formulated daily use retinol products wont make you peel and can induce amazing changes in the skin.

I have started to develop acne as I get older. Should I use the same products to treat the breakouts that a teenager would use?
Acne is becoming a more common skin challenge in adults, and is often caused by hormone fluctuations, menopause and/or stress, especially in women. As skin ages, skin hydration decreases. Therefore, it is critical to choose products to address adult acne that are not too drying. Acne varies among age groups and should be treated accordingly.

Are there products and treatments that can be used to lighten freckles?
Freckles that have been present since early childhood are part of your genetics. While chemical peels and daily care products will help correct freckling from sun damage, freckles that are part of your hereditary background will always resurface.
